Medical Massage Therapy is the use of massage therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.
- Usually 50-55 minutes long
- May include stretching, ice, heat, topical analgesic creams, exercises and a structured treatment plan
- Begins with an assessment of your condition
- You and your therapist will create goals for your future massage appointments
- Is often covered by health insurance plans
During a Medical Massage Therapy session, there is usually stretching involved. The stretching may be done passively (without the client’s assistance) or actively (requesting the client’s assistance). Sometimes, a Medical Massage session may also include the use of ice or heat to further assist in the treatment of the areas.
